PROCESS

 

Candidates seeking a CBIP Certificate of Competence must apply to CBIP using the relevant forms available from CBIP website.  Alternatively, email or  telephone the Business Manager (06) 759 4360 for the forms.

These forms are a framework for the certification process and enable candidates to provide:

  • Personal contact details
  • Evidence of Competency by way of reports and/or documented evidence
  • Evidence of the personal attributes (CV)
  • Evidence they have completed the pre-requisite training, qualifications and experience

It is recommended that prospective candidates refer to the General SOP

Completion of this process enables the issue of certificates of competence or proficiency that meet the requirements of legislative authorities and industry and are internationally recognised.

Renewal is due every five years

Re-Certification is due every 10 years

COMPLETING THE APPLICATION FORM

Reports

Send five inspection reports prepared during training. 

These reports shall:

  • Be relevant to the inspection discipline for which certification is sought

  • Reasonably cover the breadth of work the certification applies to

  • Include sufficient technical content to allow CBIP to assess candidates’ competence

  • Be endorsed by a holder of a CBIP certificate of competence

NDT Training Requirement

The requirements for formal training hours are listed in ISO 9712 and the CBIP SOP.  The training must be undertaken prior to a qualification examination.  Candidates who do not meet the training hours requirements will not be accepted for examination.

PERSONAL & EMPLOYMENT DETAILS

Correct details are required to enable CBIP to contact candidates and to ensure names are correct for Certificates and ID cards.

 

 

DISCIPLINE APPLIED FOR

Complete using the descriptions listed on DISCIPLINES.  Candidates are strongly recommended to read SOP’s for the discipline applied for to ensure they meet the training, experience and qualification requirements.

Make sure that the box “initial application” is ticked.

PAYMENT

Payment may be made by the following methods:

Cheque, internet Banking, Credit Card or Company Order  are accepted     

Full payment must be made one month prior to examination

Exam results, Certificates and ID Cards will not be issued until payment is made in full.

 

 

CODE OF ETHICS
USE OF CERTIFICATES/LOGOS

Inspectors shall adhere to the Code of Ethics  and the  use of Certificates and logos of CBIP and are required to sign a declaration agreeing to abide by the codes.

 

 

VISION TEST

A Vision Test Certificate is required and included with the application form.  

Send the  original document, which must be issued no later than six months prior to the date of application.

 

 

REFEREE STATEMENT

As part of certification a prerequisite is that the employer endorses the candidate as being able to communicate both verbally and in writing at the level required, and that the candidate has the ability to work safely within the workplace safety requirements.

An employer, due to the nature and potential significance of eventual certification, must not offer an endorsement unless he/she has personal knowledge that the candidate has the required attributes.

Where a person other than the employer offers the endorsement, that person must have held a senior position of technical responsibility or the relevant CBIP certification for at least 5 years.  The Referee must be have knowledge of the person in the workplace to be capable of making such.

 

 

PERSONAL STATEMENT

Candidates are asked to verify that they have communication skills and mental and physical ability to carry out the role of inspector.

PRE-REQUISITE TRAINING, QUALIFICAITONS & EXPERIENCE
 

Qualifications and Training

Candidates applying for certification must satisfy requirements for pre-requisite training, qualifications and experience specified in the relevant SOP.

Completion of formal training courses

All documents are to be signed by the issuer; where copies of an original are provided they must be covered by a statutory declaration that certifies them as a true and correct record of the original. 

A CV may be included to demonstrate a candidates full competency and training history, but is not mandatory.

Applicants for certification will be assessed on their industrial experience which must meet the requirements of ISO 9712.  Applicants for examination need not meet this requirement, but must obtain the required experience within 2 years of examination to be eligible for certification
